Plan a landing area, not just a distance. Where water influences the line of play, a shorter club and a clear target can be more useful than chasing every extra yard. Keep a comfortable carry in mind when choosing tees, and discuss the safest approach with your caddie before committing to the shot.
Thana City Golf & Country Club opened in 1993 as Thailand's only golf course designed by Greg Norman, and it remains one of the country's most admired layouts more than three decades on. It sits at kilometer 14 on the Bangna-Trad Highway, directly adjacent to Suvarnabhumi Airport — close enough that jets swooping in to land seem to pass right over the fairways.
Norman's design makes the most of natural lakes and streams, with fast greens and strategically placed bunkers set into landscaped fairways, and one of the best drainage systems in Bangkok keeps the course playable through the rainy season. The club underwent a significant renovation between 2012 and 2018, refreshing both the course and a clubhouse that now includes a golf resort, swimming pool, and a dedicated golf academy.
The tournament résumé here is real: Thana City hosted the 1993 Thailand Open, the Kosaido Thailand Ladies Open in 1994 and 1995, the final round of the 1996 Johnnie Walker Super Tour (won by Ernie Els), and the Thailand Open again in 2011. Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Ian Woosnam, Laura Davies, and Thai star Thongchai Jaidee have all played its fairways. Despite that pedigree, Thana City is known today as one of the more approachable courses in the city — a good fit for beginners and higher handicappers rather than an intimidating championship-only test.

Tell us your preferred tee time, handicap range and any rental requirements. For a larger group, we can discuss consecutive tee times rather than assuming everyone can play in one flight.
