The playing experience
Choose a tee length that suits your usual game, rather than automatically playing the back markers. Protect the approach angle, leave room for a conservative lay-up and ask your caddie where a missed shot is easiest to recover. For mixed handicaps, different tees can make the same round more enjoyable for everyone.
Black Mountain Golf Club opened in 2007, designed by Phil Ryan of Pacific Coast Design and founded by Swedish entrepreneur Stig Notlöv, and in under two decades it’s become the course that defines serious golf in Hua Hin. It sits at the foot of the black granite mountains it’s named for, about 20–30 minutes west of Hua Hin town, and the terrain does a lot of the design work for it — real elevation change, water hazards on 12 of the holes, and a setting that photographs as dramatically as it plays.
What separates Black Mountain from the rest of the Hua Hin golf scene is its competitive pedigree. It’s hosted Asian Tour events, the Royal Trophy, and multiple editions of the Black Mountain Masters and Championship, plus the International Series Thailand and the European Tour co-sanctioned True Thailand Classic. In 2024, the players themselves voted the Black Mountain Championship the Asian Tour’s Tournament of the Year — that’s not a marketing claim, that’s the tour’s own competitors saying this course delivers.
The club expanded from its original 18 holes to a full 27 in 2016 with the addition of the West nine, giving golfers multiple 18-hole combinations across the East, North, and West layouts. It’s been named to Golf Digest’s Top 100 Courses Outside the USA every year since 2012 — the first Thai course to earn a spot on that list — and has picked up IAGTO’s “Golf Experience of the Year – Thailand” award along the way.

Before you play
Caddie required. A tip is separate unless your confirmed quotation explicitly includes it.
Tell us your preferred tee time, handicap range and any rental requirements. For a larger group, we can discuss consecutive tee times rather than assuming everyone can play in one flight.
Getting there
Your hotel location matters as much as the destination name. Share the exact pickup point so we can allow for city traffic and the time needed to warm up before your round.
