Make room in the day for the drive and a proper warm-up. Changes in elevation can alter how far a shot actually plays, so use the caddie's local knowledge alongside your own distance judgement. For a multi-course holiday, this setting adds a different visual and playing rhythm to flatter layouts.
Royal Chiangmai Golf Resort opened in February 1996, designed by Peter Thomson — a five-time British Open Champion whose design work carries genuine major-championship pedigree. Built on the site of a former fruit orchard in a valley surrounded by mountains, the course has been described as a traditional British parkland layout with some interesting links-style additions, a fitting signature from a designer whose playing career was built on links golf.
The routing is genuinely demanding: tree-lined fairways run past roughly 94 bunkers, with streams, lakes, and waterfalls coming into play on nearly every hole. Tiff Dwarf Bermuda greens and Bermuda 419/Zoysia fairways round out the conditioning. Two holes stand out — the uphill par-4 4th, the course’s stroke-index 1 hole at around 440 yards, and the long par-5 7th. The whole course sits beneath the watch of Pratat Jomkiti Temple on the surrounding hillside.
Set in San Sai District, about 40 minutes from central Chiang Mai, this is a course built for golfers who want to feel a major champion’s design philosophy at work, not just play another resort round.

Tell us your preferred tee time, handicap range and any rental requirements. For a larger group, we can discuss consecutive tee times rather than assuming everyone can play in one flight.

Your hotel location matters as much as the destination name. Share the exact pickup point so we can allow for city traffic and the time needed to warm up before your round.
