Plan a landing area, not just a distance. Where water influences the line of play, a shorter club and a clear target can be more useful than chasing every extra yard. Keep a comfortable carry in mind when choosing tees, and discuss the safest approach with your caddie before committing to the shot.
Gassan Legacy Golf Club is part of the Gassan Group’s Chiang Mai-Lamphun cluster — described as the largest golfing complex in Northern Thailand, alongside sister courses Gassan Panorama and Gassan Khuntan. The original course opened in the mid-2000s, but its current form dates to a complete redesign by Schmidt-Curley Design (led by Lee Schmidt), which closed the course for renovation in 2013 and reopened it in 2014.
The layout is parkland-style, planted with Paspalum grass for consistent year-round conditioning, and water hazards feature on the large majority of holes — one source counts water in play on 17 of the 18. The signature hole is the par-3 15th, played to an island green. Floodlights have been added in places to allow early or evening play, and the course sits within a broader golf and resort complex in Ban Thi District, Lamphun, about 30–45 minutes from central Chiang Mai.
While a formal, verifiable tournament history wasn’t found for Legacy specifically, the Schmidt-Curley design pedigree and water-heavy layout make it a genuine test worth taking seriously — and a natural entry point if you’re planning to play more than one of the three Gassan courses during your stay.

Before you play
Caddie required. A tip is separate unless your confirmed quotation explicitly includes it.
Tell us your preferred tee time, handicap range and any rental requirements. For a larger group, we can discuss consecutive tee times rather than assuming everyone can play in one flight.
Getting there
Your hotel location matters as much as the destination name. Share the exact pickup point so we can allow for city traffic and the time needed to warm up before your round.
